Did you know that 40 per cent of visitors to A&E leave without treatments?  In Croydon, during 2015-16, this equates to an estimated 29,200 people and a cost to the NHS locally of over £3.8 million.
A new service, Health Help Now, can help Croydon residents to avoid unnecessary queues and get them to the right place for treatment faster.

Via the website or the free app (available on the App Store and Google Play), Health Help Now Croydon offers lots of easy ways to access information on local health and wellbeing services, and advice and help to keep local people fit, happy and healthy.

The website works on phones, tablets and computers - taking up minimal memory - and there are instructions about how to save it to different devices. The app also adds the ability to save health contacts, appointments, keep notes and receive an update if for example, a pharmacy you use regularly and have saved as a favourite, changes its hours.

Both the website and app are broken down into different age groups – baby, child, teenager, adult and older adult - making it easier for people to find the right treatment for them.  Health Help Now also offers advice on lots of health problems – such as what to do if you accidentally run out of medication – and has links to dozens of local services in Croydon.

It lists the most suitable option for most people first, with other suggestions following in order. It shows the nearest services, indicates whether services are open or closed and provides a map of their location.

NHS Croydon CCG Assistant Clinical Chair and local GP, Dr Agnelo Fernandes said: “Health Help Now will be a really useful tool for local residents to find the best NHS service to treat their health problem, and health and wellbeing services to keep them fit, happy and healthy.
“Often people don’t know where to go for help but having this sort of information online and at a touch of a button is a great step forward in signposting people to the right local health services. It gives people confidence that they are getting the right help as quickly as possible.”
